Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need my learner's permit to begin lessons?

No, but without a learner's permit, you would only be allowed to practise yard exercises such as reversing and parking. You will need your learner's permit to begin road training. Click here to find out how to get or renew your learner's permit.

  • How many lessons do I need to be ready for the driving exam?

This is dependent on prior driving experience and the rate at which you grasp concepts. If you have never driven before but consider yourself an average learner, typically we recommend a minimum of twenty(20) 1-hour practical sessions. Theory sessions are also recommended.

  • What type of licence will I get after doing lessons with Quick Drive Academy?

We prepare students for class B and class C licences. Both classes entitle you to drive motor cars and trucks but a class C licence entitles you to drive motor cars and trucks not just for private use, but also for hire or reward. We do not offer lessons for motorcycles (class A).

  • Do you offer payment plans?

Payment plans are conditionally offered. Give us a call for more details.

  • What if I already know how to drive, do I need to purchase a package to get exam-ready?

We sure have heard this one before. In our experience, this usually means there is some competence with driving on the road but little or no competence in applying the road code and executing parallel parking and reversing manoeuvres. In most cases purchasing a package is still the financially wise decision. If you believe you can do without it, feel free to book an assessment with us, then use our feedback as a guide to determine the number of lessons you should take.

  • What area does Quick Drive Academy operate in?

We operate in the Kingston & St. Andrew metropolitan area using a combination of quiet and busy roads along with our business premises as our training grounds. Our students use the Swallowfield Depot for their driving examinations.
